The secure messaging specialist from Berlin today announces the appointment of Benjamin Schilz as the company’s new Group CEO.

Benjamin Schilz is an experienced international entrepreneur with a strong track record in delivering innovative cybersecurity solutions to the market. Benjamin Schilz also orchestrated and oversaw multiple mergers and acquisitions in the global tech sector.

“Benjamin Schilz is the perfect fit for Wire”, says Diana Meyel, Chairwoman of the Board of Wire and Managing Partner at Cipio Partners. “His background as an inspiring founder and his international experience in the cybersecurity industry will help Wire expand globally. Benjamin’s experience driving operational excellence and global market positioning further underlines why we are thrilled to have him on board.”

Before joining Wire, Benjamin Schilz was the founder of Acorus Networks, a bootstrapped cybersecurity and cloud-management company based in France, which was later merged with Volterra. During his tenure at Volterra, he secured additional funding, managed global operations and customer deployment strategy, and later negotiated and completed Volterra’s acquisition by the global technology company F5, where he then served as Vice President for Infrastructure & Operations.

An independently audited, fully secure communications infrastructure

“Wire is the simplest way for organizations to deploy their own independently audited and fully secure communication infrastructure. I am excited for Benjamin to join as CEO”, says Janus Friis, co-founder of Wire.

To support customers with a high need for security, Wire has a history of working with cutting-edge technology. Last year, the company delivered the ability to federate on-premises instances of Wire for seamless secure messaging.

This year will be even more consequential for Wire users: “Wire has an incredible product and a mission that could not be more timely”, says Benjamin Schilz, CEO of Wire. “I am looking forward to working with the incredible team to fulfill the rising demand for secure communications solutions. Wire has a great technology stack, and I am thrilled we will be delivering Messaging Layer Security for our customers in the first half of this year.”

The announcement marks the completion of Wires C-Level setup alongside Juan Perea Rodríguez as General Manager and Chief Commercial Officer who steers Wire’s business relations and strategic partnerships.

Benjamin Schilz follows Christian Salza, who served as Wire’s interim CEO throughout 2023. “We want to thank Christian Salza for his incredible work and dedication to Wire’s mission as interim CEO”, says Diana Meyel. “He has made valuable and lasting contributions to Wire, which will shape the company in the coming years.”
