Wire Cells - Secure by Design

In this blog, we focus on Wire Cells' industry-leading security approach and infrastructure.

Throughout this series of blog posts, we’ve been focusing on how Wire Cells will change the secure workspace market with its ease of use and powerful real-time collaboration capabilities. By now, you know that integrating Cells’ real-time document sharing and collaboration with Wire’s full-featured communication is going to reset the bar for what users and organizations expect from a secure workspace platform. What we haven’t focused on is the platform’s industry-leading security infrastructure - and we use that word advisedly because security isn’t a feature of the platform, it’s right down in the DNA of everything we do.

Always on - Always secure

Unlike many other platforms, the highest level of security is always on in Wire Cells, and there are no options to reduce or turn these security measures off. This radically reduces the risk of accidental or even purposeful data loss or leakage. The MLS (Messaging Layer Security) protocol that underpins all communication on the platform is an absolute nightmare for even the most sophisticated hackers (more about this in a later post).

Without going into painful levels of technical detail (we’ll do that elsewhere), here are some of the core capabilities that make Wire Cells the most secure workspace solution on the market.

  • Our Industry-leading security, with its zero-trust architecture (devices/users are re-verified with each request based on access policies), is invisible to end users, which means they will love using Wire Cells and won’t look for alternative tools that put your data at risk
  • Cutting-edge end-to-end MLS protocol (Wire are founding members of the MLS working group) for all messages, calls, files, reactions, voice messages, videos, screen-shares, and more. This is the most secure approach to end-to-end encryption for enterprise messaging, calling, and file sharing available today
  • SAML-based single sign-on and SCIM support for advanced yet easy-to-use access management
  • Administrator and operator shielding means no one, except the participants in a conversation, can decrypt the information being exchanged
  • Wire offers a painless identity and device verification function called ID Shield, ensuring that users only communicate with intended recipients
  • Available via Wire Cloud as well as self-hosted options that support full data sovereignty
  • Multiple access control layers (ACLs) to simplify the granting of granular permissions documents, files and folders
  • Simple to use guest room features for secure collaboration with external stakeholders. No account registration or app download is required. Once a guest closes their browser, they lose access to the conversation, keeping your data within the organization

Secure. Seamless. Scalable.

By integrating Wire’s ultra-secure communication with Cells’ robust file management, you get a fully protected, highly scalable, enterprise-ready workspace where security isn’t just a feature—it’s the foundation.

With its end-to-end encrypted communication, every message, call, and video meeting in Wire Cells stays private and protected. And the addition of advanced, secure storage and controlled access means your teams, partners and external collaborators can work securely on sensitive documents and files. All via a single intuitive and enterprise-ready platform.

With this powerful combination, your conversations and data remain encrypted and safeguarded from start to finish—from brainstorming to file exchange. Wire Cells is the ideal workspace for government, intelligence services, defense, law enforcement, NGOs and any enterprise working in a security-conscious or compliance-intensive industry.
