Pexip and Wire Join Forces to Advance Sovereign European Communications
Pexip and Wire today announced a strategic partnership focused on sovereign, end-to-end encrypted communications for governments, defense organizations, and operators of critical infrastructure.
The collaboration brings together two established European platforms: Pexip’s secure video conferencing and interoperability infrastructure, and Wire’s MLS-based end-to-end encrypted messaging and collaboration platform.
Together, the companies will explore how tightly integrated video and messaging can be deployed within sovereign environments, aligned with the operational and regulatory requirements of government, defense, and critical infrastructure.
“We see that European customers in these sectors are moving beyond standalone solutions and looking at how their entire communications stack is designed and controlled,” says Trond Johannessen, CEO, Pexip. “They want control over where data is processed, how identities are managed, and how encryption is applied across workflows. Our partnership with Wire is about bringing together complementary capabilities to support that level of control, without adding complexity for the users.”
“The future of secure collaboration will not be built by one platform alone. Europe already has the technology and expertise to build secure communication infrastructure independently,” said Oliver Brown, Chief Commercial Officer, Wire. “The market is moving away from fragmented security approaches toward integrated platforms designed around sovereignty, governance, and zero-trust principles from the start.”
The partnership reflects a shared belief that sovereign communications should be open, interoperable, and deployable on the customer’s terms. Pexip enables organizations to run secure video infrastructure across private cloud, on-premises, and classified environments while connecting with existing collaboration platforms. Wire takes a similar ecosystem approach through its software development kit (SDK), which allows partners and developers to integrate secure communication capabilities directly into their own workflows and services.
The partnership and early integration concepts will be presented at AFCEA TechNet Cyber in Bonn on 12 May, where both companies will showcase sovereign deployment approaches and discuss market requirements with public sector stakeholders and system integrators.
